Thoughts of a Semi-Retired Oil and Gas Executive now in the NGO space

After a very fruitful 35.4 years in Corporate work, I transitioned into the NGO + space.  I am in six areas for NGO's; an international school, two non-stock, , non-profit Foundations, an Industry association, a Retirees Club and a Christian church.  The '+' part are a coaching role, two start-up companies, a micro-finance association, my wife's business and managing my retirement portfolio of condos, homes and investments giving fixed income.  Being a retiree, the fixed income bit is very important.  I did pretty well in retirement preparations. It was something I always told my people when they joined my organizations.  My mantra then was: Prepare for your Retirement, Know your Tasks and Targets and TEAM - Together everybody achieves more!  It is now nearly 3 years since I did that step over and time to take stock of what has happened.  One could argue that having 6+6 areas of activities isn't ...

I have one living child, Sebastian Victor.  I qualified it as living because the Lord fulfilled a promise to us and gave a daughter Isabel. It was only for a few days though in 1996.  She was our visiting angel.  Victor however, is now 30, married to Emelia and they have a beautiful daughter named Athena Isabelle.  We nicknamed her "Belle".  Born 18 Feb 2016 and now a very precocious, extremely energetic, toddler. Yes, our backs are starting to ache and our arms feelings the 18 kg of  unrelenting movement! In this time of smart phones and IT connectivity, we have terabytes of pictures and videos  that document her development. This is literally from the time when she still had her umbilical cord attached to the present!  I am sure, she's part of the millions of children whose parents and grandparents have, are doing and will do as a normal part of life. Our friends comment that they are surrogate parents via Facebook! How does on raise a grand...
