Experiences on getting things done....

I was taking stock of the things I am doing. Being a corporate trained person, I try to paint the picture of the end result- Happy Land, Point B or whatever terminology is used by the leaders to rally the teams vis the shared vision to this new state. By taking stock, it means setting stakes in the journey to mark where we are. We are all in multiple journeys actually; our personal life, the married life, family and extended family, our non-family groups - elementary, high school, university, work, church, close friends and even professional paths which can have national or global reach.  All of these compete with the 24 hours allotted in each day and how we prioritize becomes the major challenge. The priority which I dare claim to be the highest is the role which brings home value to the family. Alot of times this is the ‘job’. I use value instead of money as we more towards the latter years in our lives, the service to others is the ‘job’ and we utilize the earnings of the past t

In the NGO area

After a very fruitful 35.4 years in Corporate work, I transitioned into the NGO + space.  I am in six areas for NGO's; an international school, two non-stock, , non-profit Foundations, an Industry association, a Retirees Club and a Christian church.  The '+' part are a coaching role, two start-up companies, a micro-finance association, my wife's business and managing my retirement portfolio of condos, homes and investments giving fixed income.  Being a retiree, the fixed income bit is very important.  I did pretty well in retirement preparations. It was something I always told my people when they joined my organizations.  My mantra then was: Prepare for your Retirement, Know your Tasks and Targets and TEAM - Together everybody achieves more!  It is now nearly 3 years since I did that step over and time to take stock of what has happened.  One could argue that having 6+6 areas of activities isn't really retirement but then, this is 5 less roles that what I had when

#Lolofiles - Helping Raise a Grand Child

I have one living child, Sebastian Victor.  I qualified it as living because the Lord fulfilled a promise to us and gave a daughter Isabel. It was only for a few days though in 1996.  She was our visiting angel.  Victor however, is now 30, married to Emelia and they have a beautiful daughter named Athena Isabelle.  We nicknamed her "Belle".  Born 18 Feb 2016 and now a very precocious, extremely energetic, toddler. Yes, our backs are starting to ache and our arms feelings the 18 kg of  unrelenting movement! In this time of smart phones and IT connectivity, we have terabytes of pictures and videos  that document her development. This is literally from the time when she still had her umbilical cord attached to the present!  I am sure, she's part of the millions of children whose parents and grandparents have, are doing and will do as a normal part of life. Our friends comment that they are surrogate parents via Facebook! How does on raise a grandchild?  The usual practic

#Beautiful Philippines....Twin Lakes Dumaguete

Image
Near Dumaguete is Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park. It is in the municipality of Sibulan and just an hour's drive from downtown Dumaguete. Near the park entrance is a gov't office which has a 3D topo map of the area which shows the relative location and dimension of the lakes to the surrounding terrain.  The lake has no above ground outlet and one wonders where the source of the water is as the are near the peaks of the mountains! As you drive up, there are smaller ponds with interesting features.  We were there in March - in the heat of summer but the flora was thriving. It was graduation time at Siliman University so Dumaguete was packed but at the lakes, there was tranquility.  You have the option of being brought across the main lake by a single boatman who literally paddles you across or do a hike along a nature trail to get to the viewdeck in the middle of the two lakes.  There are no noticeable currents and the lake is murky and according to wik
My Experience with the LTO and PNP TMG I pass on what happened when I personally went and did all the steps needed to transfer ownership of a car.  I would like to help you in the preparations and save time in the process.  There are similar articles in the web but they did not give all the gory details on the steps.  This does.  I am not sure if the processes are the same in the other LTO offices so please adjust to local idiosyncrasies.... Transfer of Ownership of Motor Vehicles The company will provide all the transfer documents. Apart from the formal transfer document, these include Corporate Secretary's certificate, CTC of company, photocopies of the Corporate Secretary and responsible officer who signed the transfer document. It should also include the Original OR and CR.  Note: Do the transfer as close to the date as the required date for renewal of registration and ensure you get insurance coverage (CTPL as minimum).  If it is still a few months til the renewal

My Experience of removal of chattel mortgage on vehicles

Unless you are the top 1% of society, we normally by cars using bank loans.   After the final payment is made, you have a feeling of great satisfaction.  The car is mine!!  Don't celebrate too soon, you still need to get the encumbrance removed before it is "really yours" and if you want, before the vehicle can be sold!  Again, I decided to do it myself and experience what it is really like.  As usual, I looked at the internet to list down the key steps and I they are quite accurate, but it doesn't give the time element and some subtle items - like making sure you really check your documents!.  I did three cars at one time so I was also able to compare bank performance.   So, let me share my experience on this process.... Removal of Chattel Mortgage vehicles After you pay your loan to the bank: Wait for advise from the bank on when you can get the original OR/CR, loan contract, certificate from the bank that loan is paid and that they agree to remove the ch

Doing something new today!!

For those that don't know me, I am a recently retired Oil & Gas executive who has a long bucket list of things that still are to come. The journey is being taken with my wife Amor.  The objective of doing blogs (which is one of the items in the bucket list) is to pass on things : Knowledge, Experience, Advice, Opinions and nuggets of Wisdom that the Lord had been passing on to us along the highway of life. Today is Good Friday and we're here with extended family observing the activities of Holy Week.  Maundy Thursday evening was the Agape meal and as I am an Elder of our Church, the Union Church of Manila, I also did foot washing.  As our Pastor said, there is an action part on the Lord's new commandment of "Love one another, as I have loved you". It is a continuing honor to serve. I have a very knowledgeable nephew- IT side and in just 5 minutes, he taught me how to set up a Blog and I am now doing my very first Blog!  I tried doing the set up myself with
